Basic settings in Word

1. Page

  1. Layout → Margins → Custom Margins
  2. Top: 3 cm | Bottom: 2 cm | Left: 3 cm | Right: 2 cm
  3. Orientation: Portrait | Paper: A4

2. Font

  1. Select all (Ctrl + A)
  2. Font: Times New Roman or Arial
  3. Size: 12 (body text)

3. Spacing and paragraph

  1. Paragraph → Indents and Spacing
  2. Alignment: Justified
  3. Special indent: First line 1.25 cm
  4. Line spacing: 1.5

Element specifications

  • Body text: 12, 1.5, justified
  • Section title: 12, bold, 1.5
  • Long quote: 10, single spacing, 4 cm indent
  • Notes/captions: 10, single

Academic structure

Citations

Short direct quote (up to 3 lines)
